The place
Daraudi River Resort sits on the bank of the Daraudi River at Abuwa, Gorkha, below forested hills. Families, groups, couples and travellers come here for a meal by the river, a day-long programme or a quiet night away from town.
Functions, picnics and events
The covered hall stands on the riverbank, open on every side, with the Daraudi running below. Book it for any family or office occasion, and our kitchen caters for your whole group.
After dark
As evening falls we set up the grill by the water, and your group eats outside beside the river. Ask for night BBQ when you book.
Staying the night
Choose a normal or a deluxe room. Every room has an attached bathroom and sits a few steps from the garden and the restaurant.

While you are here
Gorkha Bazaar lies up the valley and Abu Khaireni down it, so you can reach the district's main sights on a day trip from the resort. Distances are by road.
About 15 km · 1,500 steps
The palace and fort of the Shah kings, built into the ridge by Newar craftsmen. Start the climb early, as the steps have little shade.
At the foot of the steps · Rs 150
Tallo Durbar, the lower palace, finished in 1835. Dress, instruments and weapons from across the district, and three hectares of garden.
About 27 km · cable car
The wish-granting temple, reached by a 2.8 km cable car that takes ten minutes. Runs 8 to 5, shut noon to 1:30.
1,520 m · half an hour above the palace
The widest view in the district: Manaslu, Himalchuli and the Annapurnas behind them. Go in the late afternoon and walk down in the cool.

The trail starts in this district. If you are driving to Soti Khola you pass the junction below us on the way.
At the resort
In the dry months the shallow water below the hall is good for a swim. Stay out of the river during the monsoon. We can arrange fishing on request.
Getting here
Cars and buses can drive right up to the resort. Use the map link for directions to the gate.
Take the Prithvi Highway to Abu Khaireni (about 110 km), then turn north on the Gorkha road for about 8 km.
Take the Prithvi Highway east to Abu Khaireni (about 90 km), then the same turn north.
Follow the river road down for about 15 km. The resort is on the right, at the bridge.
Buses to Gorkha pass through Abu Khaireni. Call us and we will tell you where to get off.

Yes, in the dry months, in the shallow water below the hall. Stay out during the monsoon, when the river rises fast. There is no lifeguard, so please keep children in sight.
